KCET 2020 - Exam Date, Pattern, Syllabus and Preparation Guidelines
Karnataka Common Entrance Test, popularly known as KCET exam will be conducted by the state government of Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). This test will be conducted for the admission in professional undergraduate courses, mainly for the students who are willing to pursue their higher education in subjects related to Engineering and Medical. This exam will offer colleges and courses depending on their KCET results, students can get admitted in both government and private institutions for respective courses. Through KCET, the students may get admissions in selective colleges according to their results across Karnataka, and only in this one state.
The dates to apply for KCET 2020 have been closed for this year and the corrections in applications have begun, to help the students attending KCET 2020, here is the complete information given below:

Correction of Application: 19/03/2020 to 27/02/2020
Collection of Hall Ticket: 10/04/2020
Date of Examination: 22/04/2020 – Biology and Maths,
23/04/2020 – Physics and Chemistry
Declaration of Results: May last week
Commencement of KCET Counselling: Midweek of June
KCET Exam Pattern –
- The KCET exam will be conducted offline through the OMR markings.
- The duration of the exam for each subject will be 80 minutes.
- Each paper carries 60 marks, the question will be in the form of multiple-choice questions and each question carries one mark, also no negative markings will be done for wrong answers.
- The exam will be conducted in two languages that are English and Kannada.
KCET Syllabus –
As the exam will be conducted by KEA, the questions will be based on the 1st and 2nd PU syllabus, which will be set by the Department of Pre-University Education of Karnataka State. The students can study their PU syllabus according to the subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths.
Guidelines for the KCET 2020 Candidates for Preparation:
- Go through your syllabus completely also if possible, try to look into the previous year question papers.
- Study according to the exam pattern, remember the questions are in the form of multiple choice.
- Marking system plays a major role in preparing for this exam.
- Some of the books that can be referred to while preparing for KCET exam are Karnataka CET Explorer for Engineering, Karnataka CET Explorer Medical, and many more as such.
The Counselling will be held in the first or second week of June and the information about the counselling process will be available on the official website of KEA. During this process, the students have to select and lock their colleges and courses. The allotment of colleges will be done according to the students KCET results and their choice of college and course.
