JEE Main 2023 Eligibility Criteria Plea Hearing Today, Check Highlights
Today is the plea hearing for the Joint Entrance Exam, JEE Main 2023 Eligibility Criteria. The Bombay High Court will hear a petition challenging the JEE Mains eligibility criteria of 75%. According to an update provided by Advocate Anubha Srivastava, the case is listed as item number 52.
According to the petition, the correct JEE Main eligibility criteria of obtaining 75% marks should be relaxed or removed. On April 6, the Bombay High Court held a hearing in which it asked the National Testing Agency, "What is the purpose of giving 75 percent for twelfth standard?" "There is a qualifying exam."
According to the NTA, students who want to get admission through JEE Score must have at least 75% in their Class 12 board examinations or be in the top 20% of their education boards to be eligible.
The Union Education Ministry added the top 20th percentile criteria after receiving student feedback.
Students are claiming that the inclusion of class 12th grades as an eligibility criterion is unjustified.
“The marks scored by them is not a true reflection of their actual ability therefore those students with fewer marks than the eligibility criteria (75%) for this year’s examinations can score very high marks in the upcoming JEE Main 2023, and if a fair chance is denied to them that will affect the future (of) lakhs of bright (students),” the PIL submitted to Bombay HC stated.
The matter will be further heard today and the eligibility criteria will be revised or not will be decided upon the verdict by HC.
