JEE Advanced 2023: IIT Intake Widens, With a Total Of 17,385 Seats Available this Year
All 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in India have a total of 17,385 seats available, a slight increase from last year's total of 16,598 seats.
"Based on the information available to us, the total number of seats available for admissions in IITs this year is 17,385, including the female supernumerary seats," said Prof. Bishnupada Mandal, Organising Chairperson of JEE (Advanced) 2023. JoSAA, on the other hand, will release a detailed seat matrix on Monday."
On Sunday, the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Advanced results were released, revealing that 43,773 out of 180,372 candidates passed the entrance exam for admission to undergraduate programmes at the 23 IITs. Females make up 7,509 of the qualified candidates.
On Monday, the registration process for the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling will begin. However, the detailed seat matrix under JoSAA is currently unclear.
There are 43,605 Indian nationals and 13 foreign nationals among the qualified candidates. In addition, 155 candidates from outside India (OCI) qualified for admission to IITs.
