Investment in education, skills, & healthcare to drive employment: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of investing in people through three key pillars—education, skills, and healthcare—while addressing a post-budget webinar on employment via video conferencing on Wednesday. He urged all stakeholders to increase investments in these areas, highlighting their necessity for the next phase of India’s development.
PM Modi described this year’s Union Budget as a blueprint for India’s future, with balanced investments across infrastructure, industries, people, the economy, and innovation. Stressing that capacity building and talent development are fundamental to national progress, he noted that these elements are essential for both economic growth and organizational success.
He underscored the crucial role of industry and academia in fostering development, calling on educational institutions and businesses to collaborate effectively. This partnership, he said, will equip young people with skills to adapt to a rapidly evolving world, gain exposure, and engage in hands-on learning experiences.
PM Modi also highlighted the launch of the PM-Internship Scheme, designed to provide youth with practical skills and career opportunities, while urging maximum industry participation to enhance its impact.
Regarding healthcare, he pointed out the addition of 10,000 new medical seats in this budget, with a long-term goal of adding 75,000 medical seats over the next five years to strengthen the country's healthcare sector.
