Initiatives by Govt to integrate AI in higher education: President
The President reflected on the 70th anniversary of BIT Mesra that the Government of India has proactively leveled with the evolving scenarios in the light of AI rapidly changing economies.
The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, has opined that we are in the era of technologies. Recent developments in information technology have transformed our way of life. What seemed impossible until yesterday has become possible today.
Droupadi Murmu noted that the coming years will probably witness even more dramatic transformations, with substantial growth expected especially in AI and machine learning.
While addressing the 70th anniversary of BIT Mesra, the President stated that the Government of India has promptly reacted to the evolving situation as AI swiftly changes economies. Multiple efforts are underway to incorporate AI into higher education institutions.
"I am also happy to notice our daughters setting a higher benchmark of excellence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics." She claimed that the enthusiasm and devotion of the younger generation would be the backbone of a 'Viksit Bharat'.
CK Birla, Chairman of the CK Birla Group and recognizing BIT's enduring impact as an institution stated: “Currently providing education across more than 20 disciplines with an enrollment exceeding 10,000 students alongside over 600 faculty members—we are deeply committed to nurturing talent through our extensive alumni network of 50,000.” He also noted improvements related to gender representation among their student body where women now comprise 30 percent. Established as India's third-oldest technical institute following independence and pioneering its first Space Engineering and Rocketry Department back in 1964; he mentioned ongoing endeavors tied to research investment and technological advancement.
