Indian Medical Graduates now Allowed to Pursue Post Graduate Training in USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand
According to a press release from the Union Health Ministry, India's National Medical Commission (NMC) has been granted the coveted World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) Recognition Status for a period of ten years.
As per the release, WFME recognition will allow Indian medical graduates to pursue postgraduate training and practise in other countries that require WFME recognition, such as the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Under this accreditation, all 706 existing medical colleges become WFME accredited, and all new medical colleges established in the next ten years become WFME accredited automatically.
Because of our globally recognised standards, this will also make India an appealing destination for international students.
In addition, the NMC will have the opportunity to improve the quality and standards of medical education in India by aligning them with global best practises and benchmarks.
According to the release, the recognition will boost the international recognition and reputation of Indian medical schools and professionals, facilitate academic collaborations and exchanges, promote continuous improvement and innovation in medical education, and foster a quality assurance culture among medical educators and institutions.
