India Launches Mechatronics Education Program with KOICA
India and Korea signed an Exchange of Notes on January 20, 2025, regarding a technical cooperation initiative named “Strengthening Vocational Education and Training in Mechatronics in India.”
This initiative, backed by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), signifies the first initiative conducted with KOICA’s assistance in India.
This initiative, to be executed over two years, intends to create a strong foundation for vocational education and training in mechatronics within India. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will initiate a pilot program at the Regional Institute of Education (RIE) in Bhopal.
The project will include developing a specialized curriculum, textbooks, and teachers’ manuals specifically designed for mechatronics education. Moreover, advanced tools will be provided to RIE Bhopal to foster an effective learning environment.
The initiative also features capacity-building programs for faculties, ensuring that teachers are well prepared to share knowledge in the advancing field of mechatronics. Additionally, the program aims to promote cooperation between RIE Bhopal and industry partners, establishing pathways for students to gain practical experience and hands-on experience.
The Mechatronics Project under Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) aims to meet the increasing need for qualified experts in fields like automation, robotics, and precision engineering. With mechatronics central to Industry 4.0, this program provides Indian students with the resources they need to thrive in a growing job market.
