India and South Korea Partner to Strengthen Vocational Education
India and South Korea are collaborating on a technical cooperation initiative, initiated to enhance mechatronics training in India. The initiative aims to create a strong foundation for vocational education and training in the field and coordinate with the demands of a rapidly evolving job market.
The agreement was officially signed by Lee Seong-ho, the Korean ambassador to India, and Manisha Sinha, additional secretary of the Ministry of Finance.
The project focuses on developing a supportive environment for mechatronics education by designing modern curricula, creating textbooks, creating teacher guides, and equipping training centers with cutting-edge tools and technologies. The two-year project will be carried out by India’s National Council of Educational Research and Training at the Regional Institute of Education located in Bhopal.
“One of our flagship initiatives is the TVET Mechatronics Project, developed in partnership with NCERT. This program equips students with advanced technical skills, ensuring they are ready to thrive in a dynamic and competitive global environment,” said Seong-ho.
In addition to infrastructure, the program will focus on capacity-building programs for teachers, allowing them to provide high-quality, industry-relevant education. Furthermore, the program seeks to enhance connections between academia and industry, promoting partnerships between RIE, Bhopal, and prominent industrial entities. This collaboration will assist in connecting theoretical understanding with practical use, equipping students for real-world problems in the mechatronics field.
