IIT Madras and IIT Palakkad are collaborating to improve educational opportunities for students by sharing resources, offering research internships, and providing immersive summer programs.

This partnership aims to leverage the unique qualities of each educational institution, enhancing the educational opportunities for students in the BS programmes at IIT Madras and the undergraduate programmes at IIT Palakkad.

In June 2020, IITM introduced a four-year BS programme in Data Science and Applications. This program offers excellent training with a combination of online lessons and face-to-face evaluations. Currently, more than 30,000 students are actively involved in this program.

By working together, students studying Data Science and Applications at IITM BS can satisfy their credit needs by enrolling in courses at IIT Palakkad as long as they meet the criteria. Moreover, undergraduate students at IIT Palakkad are permitted to register for Data Science and Programming courses from the IITM BS programme under the MoU. The partnership will also make it easier for students to participate in exchange programs, internships, and other collaborative projects.

IIT Madras has established collaborations for this type of partnership before. IIT Gandhinagar, IIIT Hyderabad, and Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) have opened their campus courses to qualified students from the IIT Madras BS (Data Science) degree program.
