IIT Kharagpur Ranks 5th in QS Asia 2024
In the 2024 QS Asia World University Rankings, the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur has secured the fifth position in India and the 59th position in Asia. The country's largest and first IIT has achieved the top position in the QS Asia University Rankings with an impressive overall score of 54.5, according to the statement.
IIT Kharagpur ranks fourth among all IITs and is fifth overall after the Indian Institute of Science. It has excelled in areas such as international research network, papers per faculty, employer and academic reputation, and staff members with PhDs.
In the 2024 World University Ranking by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), 148 universities from India are included among a total of 857 universities listed in Asia. The top universities from Asia are featured in the ranking.
In regards to the QS Asia University Rankings 2024, Prof V K Tewari, Director of IIT Kharagpur, stated that "IIT Kharagpur is committed to elevating the country's position in the global arena through advanced manufacturing systems, transportation safety engineering, analytics, quality and reliability, affordable healthcare, precision agriculture, food nutrition, and smart infrastructure to support a self-reliant India".
"Our institute is at the forefront of technological innovation, with research parks, excellence centers, start-up incubators, lab-to-market products, and nano missions forming the foundation for our pursuit of technological advancement." He stated that the successful implementation of Technology Vision 2047, as established by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will necessitate the involvement of various stakeholders, such as government agencies, public and private enterprises, as well as academic and research organizations.
