IIT Guwahati Signs MoU with the Indian Council of World Affairs

On July 19, 2023, the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create capacity/skills in international affairs and foreign policy.

The Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), India's top and oldest think tank on foreign policy and international affairs, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Guwahati as a result of Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar's visit earlier this month.

On July 19, 2023, Professor Parameswar Krishnan Iyer, Officiating Director, IIT Guwahati, and Ambassador Vijay Thakur Singh, Director-General, ICWA, signed an MoU with the goal of working together to increase awareness and knowledge of international affairs and Indian foreign policy. The deal will be in effect for three years.

During the signing ceremony, Professor Parameswar Krishnan Iyer, Officiating Director of IIT Guwahati, stated,

"In today's interconnected world, collaborative interventions in international affairs and fostering synergies on multiple fronts are critical." The collaboration between IIT Guwahati and ICWA will be a significant step towards combining efforts to address global issues and possibilities, as well as the common vision of "One Earth, One Family, One Future."

The following are the anticipated outcomes of the collaboration:

Intellectual growth of stakeholders in Assam's universities, academic institutions, enterprises, and other partners in terms of world events and Indian foreign policy awareness
Conducting cooperative study on themes of mutual interest through mutually agreed-upon methodologies

The Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, also the President of the Indian Council of World Affairs, announced this collaboration during his address at the 25th Convocation of IIT Guwahati. The Vice President mentioned, "This collaboration would give the institute a window to the world of a different nature.
