IIT Guwahati Enters the World's Top 25% Institutions List
The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati has been named to the QS World University Rankings 2024 'World's Top 25% Institutions List'. In terms of overall rating, the Institute is 364th in the world and 7th in India. With this, the Institute has risen 20 places in the global rankings and one place in the Indian rankings.
According to the QS World University Rankings 2024, published on June 27, 2023, IIT Guwahati has risen at least 237 positions since 2014, from 601-650 in 2014 to 364th in 2023. The strongest metric for IIT Guwahati is the Research Citations per Faculty, which ranks 32 internationally and has an average publication per faculty of >5.0.

For the 2024 edition, 2963 institutions from throughout the world were examined, and 1503 institutions were ranked. This year, 44 institutions in India were ranked.
The institute has continually held a high rating in national and international rankings. The Institute was ranked seventh in the country in the 'Engineering' category and ninth in the 'Overall' and 'Research' categories in the recently created National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) announced by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
