IIS Signs MoUs for Defense Workforce Development

Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) Kanpur today signed three MoUs with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Dassault Aircraft Services India (DASI) to train local youth. For the aerospace and defense sector, particularly in support of the Uttar Pradesh Defense Industrial Corridor.

Speaking on the occasion, Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the partnerships will focus on holistic development of youth, especially in Uttar Pradesh, and provide them access to quality modules in the new age and defence.

"IIS systems are being set up in the country to improve educational standards in the current skill ecosystem. This is the first time under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 that we are witnessing collaboration between education, skills and leading industries for capacity building at IIS Kanpur, the Minister added.

Strong industry-employer collaboration aims to support the latest IIS training opportunities and provide internship opportunities with leading industries. Government of India has already set up IISs in three states namely Mumbai, Kanpur and Ahmedabad.
