IGNOU's BA MSME Program Targets Entrepreneurial Skill Development

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has established a Bachelor of Arts programme in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (BAMSME). The BAMSME programme, starting in the January 2025 academic term, aims to meet the changing demands of young entrepreneurs in India. The program spans three years and is valued at 120 credits, designed for students who have finished their 10+2 education. Presented in English through the open and distance learning (ODL) approach, the IGNOU program will provide flexibility and accessibility for students across the country.

The initiative emphasizes assessing market demand prior to starting a new business, guaranteeing profitable operations, and developing essential managerial, interpersonal, and leadership abilities, according to an official statement released in this regard. Moreover, the new programme will offer a competency-based approach to entrepreneurship, equipping students to lead and succeed in the competitive business environment, it stated.

This program will be provided by the School of Vocational Education and Training. It aims to provide emerging entrepreneurs with the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary to start and effectively run business ventures.

Qualification: Applicants must have completed 10+2 or its equivalent

Duration: The programme spans 3 years, with a validity of up to 6 years

Medium of Instruction: English

Session Availability: The programme is offered in two cycles – January and July

Fee Structure: Rs 5,100 per year (Total fee for 3 years = Rs 15,300)
