Haryana CM Announces Free Education for Girls from BPL Families

Haryana Chief Minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar announced on Nov 26 that girls from below-poverty-line (BPL) families with an annual income of 1.80 lakh will be given free education in both government and private colleges.

The state government will pay half of the college fees for girls from families earning between 1.80 lakh and 3 lakh rupees. Wherever possible, the Haryana government will pay the fees of private colleges.

On Nov 27, the CM addressed a 'jan ashirwad rally' in Samalkha, Panipat district, and announced the creation of a municipal council and a development plan for the residents of Samalkha.

He said two sectors will be set up, with each spanning 100 acres in Samalkha. Khattar said the existing 50-bed CHC in Samalkha would be converted into a 100-bed hospital.

He also announced the construction of a highway by-pass in front of the Samalkha bus stand, as well as a 2 crore investment in lighting and beautification at Chulkana Dham. Other projects announced included the development of a vegetable market in Bapauli for 1.25 crore, the construction of a bus stop in Bapauli village, and the construction of a bridge on the Nangla R Drain for 4.5 crore.
