Gujarat University has declared the start of dual degree programs for undergraduate students. The university has announced that 20 undergraduate programs will be initiated. This initiative allows BA, BCom, BSc, BBA, and BCA students to obtain a second undergraduate degree from a range of 20 specialized programs, following UGC guidelines, and earn a distinguished dual degree.
Gujarat University (GU) comprises 67 departments and provides a diverse selection of 152 programs, including undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate courses. The university presently has approximately 15,000 students enrolled. It is linked to 325 universities throughout Gujarat, and its instructors provide education in different disciplines including Arts, Commerce, Science, Education, Medicine, and Management. Through the dual degree initiative, students will gain a wider array of career opportunities, an increased competitive advantage, and a more profound comprehension of their selected fields.
The Executive Council of Gujarat University (GU) sanctioned the launch of dual degree alternatives in 20 programs available on campus. According to Indian Express, regular students enrolled in the UG programme will have the opportunity to pursue a second undergraduate degree alongside their current programme starting in the academic session 2025-26.
GU opted to provide double degrees for students in order to reduce time and lessen administrative complications. Additionally, this initiative aims to enhance financial and academic independence while tackling the increasing competition from global universities. Currently, the university is providing semester 2 admissions only for students deprived of admission until today.
