Education Ministry launched Study In India Portal for International Students
Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Education, and Dr S Jaishankar, Union Minister for External Affairs, jointly launched the Study in India (SII) platform today. The portal is a website dedicated to providing information about Indian higher education institutions (HEIs).
It will highlight undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, as well as courses in the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) such as Yoga, Ayurveda, traditional arts, and more. The portal will provide information about academic facilities, research assistance, and other resources accessible at the institutes.
Students will be able to apply to more than one institute/course of their choice. It will be a one-stop spot for student registration, visa application process, choosing the desired courses and receiving offer letters from the institute. The programme will offer a streamlined and well-organised application process for international students seeking higher education opportunities in India.
The study in India initiative will collaborate with educational institutions that meet the specified standards.
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Education (MoE), the initiative aims to expand the number of overseas students in India and promote India as a desired study destination by delivering affordable and excellent education in accordance with global standards.
The Education Minister stated during the launch, "The SII portal is a one-stop platform that will simplify international students' academic journey in India." The SII Portal, guided by the NEP, displays our commitment to making India a preferred education destination while also blurring academic borders."
The Union Minister for External Affairs said that the portal signifies the government’s commitment to make India a global hub of education by welcoming students from diverse backgrounds.
Apart from the various ministers, ambassadors of more than 10 countries and students from Russia, Thailand, Japan, Ethiopia, Ecuador, Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea who are currently studying in India were present at the event.
