Education Minister Starts a Two-day Expo on Teaching Materials

Higher education teachers are typically given more credit in society, but elementary and pre-primary school teachers deserve more credit because they lay the groundwork for kids' learning ability, said Delhi Education Minister Atishi yesterday.

Atishi said the two-day state-level exhibition on "teaching learning materials" for pre-primary and primary classrooms is an acknowledgment for the efforts of primary school teachers from throughout Delhi.

"When we look back at the history of developed countries, we can see that these countries invested in high-quality education for all children, regardless of their backgrounds." Today, lakhs of students attend Delhi government and MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) schools, and their future is dependent on the creative efforts of teachers in the classrooms," she remarked.

She stated that elementary school teachers have a considerable amount of responsibility for incorporating innovative pedagogy into their classrooms in order to improve children's core skills.

"We need to create more engaging classrooms where children can learn and thrive." "I hope that teachers who attend the exhibition over the next two days will come away with many ideas for their students to implement in their classrooms," she said.

The unique models shown by the instructors at the exhibition, according to Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi, demonstrate how diverse modes such as audio, visual, and audio-visual can be blended to engage youngsters in classrooms.

“This will not only improve student attendance but will also enhance the retention power of their brain. Their foundational skills will be strengthened,” she said.

Shelly Oberoi said the transformation of teachers of MCD-run schools commenced with the IIM training of principals.

“Now, teachers will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in creating an optimal learning environment in schools. Teachers from both Delhi government schools and MCD schools will collaborate to enhance the foundational skills of children in Delhi,” the Mayor said.
