Education minister calls for universities to join hands to make India global study destination

The Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday, declared that the National Education Policy (NEP) is bringing India’s educational system aligned to par with the world.

The minister made the comments in accordance to the International Education Fair of Jammu and Kashmir hosted by Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology in New Delhi.

"With the implementation of NEP, education in India is being internationalised for the global good. I encourage all our universities to join efforts to establish India as a global study destination," he said, as per PTI.

To educate India's young about changes on the international stage, Foreign Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasised the importance of having more international students.

"In a globalised world, it's absolutely essential that young people of India are fully aware of what's happening in the world and there is no better way to do that than having international students among you," he told the gathering.

"Today, India has projects done or underway in 78 countries of the world. So, if our ties are so extensive, investments are so deep and networking is so good, we need to see more international students coming to India," Jaishankar added.

The objective of the government to give the people of Jammu and Kashmir the same prospects for growth and prosperity as the rest of India was what sparked the change process that started in that region three years ago, according to the external affairs minister.

The external affairs minister praised the process that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government began by repealing Article 370, which had granted Jammu and Kashmir a special constitutional status, three years prior and said it is crucial to integrate people from Jammu and Kashmir into society as a whole.

It demonstrated India's determination to become a global leader in science and education, as well as its rich cultural heritage and tradition, which would encourage social and cultural exchange between the nations.

"In the last 2.5 years, Jammu and Kashmir has become the champion of the country as far as digital transactions are concerned. We have built a digital society, offering 446 services online, and our entire administration is paperless. J&K is witnessing digital revolution," said Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
