DU to Introduce New Registration Portal For BTech Courses, Admissions via JEE Main Score

The University of Delhi is likely to launch the registration portal for the newly introduced BTech programmes by next week. DU’s Dean of Admission Haneet Gandhi stated during the admissions webinar.

Delhi University introduced three BTech programmes from this academic year under the Faculty of Technology, the admissions for which will be done on the basis of scores obtained in the Joint Entrance Examination (Main). Apart from JEE scores, students need to score at least 60 per cent or above in an aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, they also should have passed English as a subject of study and should have completed Class 12 from a single recognised board.

There are a total 360 seats available, i.e., 120 seats per course. The courses are— BTech in Computer and Engineering, BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering and BTech in Electrical Engineering.

Gandhi clarified that the registration for this will be different from CSAS. It will have a separate registration portal which is likely to launch next week and students have to fill their preferences while applying. They will be allotted seats on the basis of their scores and given preference.

These courses will be different from the BTech in Information Technology and Mathematical Innovation (IT and MI) which is provided by the Cluster Innovation Centre (CIC) of the University. The admission for this course is done via the Common Seat Allocation System.

The University will also offer a financial support scheme for students belonging to economically weaker sections. Students whose parental income is Rs 4 lakh or less will receive 90 per cent fee waiver at the time of admission and students whose parental income is between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 8 lakh will receive 50 per cent fee waiver.
