Delhi University Allows Permanent Faculty as Guest Lecturers
Faculty members at Delhi University (DU) have been given the green light to take on extra teaching positions as guest faculty within the University or its affiliated colleges.
An official notification dated October 31 has been issued to announce this.
Some additional classes may not be considered. Only individuals who exceed the workload set for the permanent faculty will be considered eligible. At the moment, a faculty member is only allowed to serve as a guest faculty in one institution or college, distinct from their main institution.
A faculty member is allowed to teach up to four credit courses per semester as a guest lecturer at another institution. Before starting their dual role, they must obtain a 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) and certification from their parent institute.
The university has offered an appealing compensation package for those who seize this opportunity. We will offer an honorarium of Rs 1,500 for each lecture, with a maximum of Rs 50,000 per month for those teaching extra classes.
This will likely improve the academic atmosphere and promote greater collaboration between faculty members at the various institutions and colleges within DU.
