The Deccan Education Society (DES), based in Pune, has established the Deccan Education Society Pune University (DESPU). According to a press release issued by the university, the university has established 5 schools and 21 programmes.

Commerce and management, science and mathematics, engineering and technology, humanities and social sciences, and design and arts will all be offered at the university.

The Deccan Education Society, founded in 1884, has 18 colleges and 21 schools spread across India, with over 50,000 students and 2,000 staff members. According to the press release, DESPU is the largest and first university established by the Deccan Education Society.

According to the University, DESPU will be aligned with the National Education Policy 2020 framework. The university will engage its resources in Experiential Learning Courses in addition to offering foundation courses at the bachelor's level and specialisation courses at the major and minor levels.

"With the intention of creating an inclusive environment in the educational ecosystem, DESPU is all set to bring about the much-needed transformation that the education industry necessitates," the college announced.
