Coursera translates 4000 Courses to Hindi with Generative AI

To bolster its growth further in the booming online education landscape, US-based company Coursera has translated 4,000 courses into Hindi with the help of generative artificial intelligence. Through this, the Hindi-speaking audience will access courses such as Generative AI for Everyone from DeepLearning.AI, the Science of Well-Being from Yale University, Programming for Everybody from the University of Michigan, and What is Data Science? From IBM, among others.

Coursera offers online courses from some of the world’s top universities and established its base in India in 2012.

More than 40 courses from the country’s prominent institutions, such as Introduction to Programming from BITS Pilani, Leadership Skills from IIM Ahmedabad, and Trading Basics from Indian School of Business (ISB), will also be translated into 18 languages, including French, Spanish, German and Thai, as per Coursera.

In terms of course enrollment, India has surpassed the United States. This, as per Coursera CEO Jeff Maggioncalda, is a pandemic effect. “During the pandemic, we have registered tremendous growth in India — 18.6 million new learners registrations, over a million higher than the US (17.1 million). Indians are keener to upskill themselves for better job prospects than any other country. Before the pandemic, nobody thought the work-from-home concept would be relevant. Indians worked and upskilled themselves online during the lockdown phase,” he said.
