Bio-medical Waste Management Course Programme

How 5 Rs, which include - Reuse, Reduce, Recycle, Recover and Refuse of bio-medical waste generation are put to use while dealing with “Bio-medical Waste Management (BMW)” was discussed in a programme, organized by the Department of Prosthodontics, Dr. Z. A. Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), under the aegis of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission 2022’. Prof Mazhar Abbas (Chairman, Biomedical Waste Management, Faculty of Medicine), the chief guest of the event highlighted on the segregation of the generated waste at the source.

Dr Shraddha Rathi, Dept. of Prosthodontics, enlightened the participants, through her lecture on the ‘authorization and divided of BMW, so that students of the Dental College can be made more aware and prepared for the future.

Dr Fatima Khan (Dept. of Microbiology) taught the participants about BMW management. She conducted interactive activities and games like bingo and maze to teach BMW management.

Prof Shaista Afroz (Chairperson, Dept. of Prosthodontics) emphasized the need for these lectures to reinforce and inculcate suitable attitude, with regard to biomedical waste management, necessary for every clinician and a step towards achieving the objectives of Swachh Bharat Mission.

She along with Prof Geeta Rajput welcomed the members of the biomedical waste management, and other dignitaries.
