Before 2025, France Wants 20,000 Indian Students

Invites for Indian students to France as the country plans and targets 20,000 by 2025. The Foreign Minister of France Catherine Colonna has stated while calling the plan ‘Very Ambitious’. Colonna stated, “We want 20,000 Indian students in France by 2025. We're starting from something close to 5,000. It is very ambitious but, between India and France, the sky's the limit.” Almost 65,000 immigrants from India are residing in France. With French being the language of instruction at French Institutions and Colleges in France, the country is not chosen as a location for Indian students. Students must therefore demonstrate their vocabulary proficiency as it is a requirement for international students to select French language examinations.

For receiving admission to French colleges, standardized language examinations must opt at a testing facility in India or France, students can take the TCF (Test de connaissance du francais) and the TEF (Test da Evaluation de francais).

Students that are wanting to enroll in an examination degree program such as a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program might not be required to take a French language test. In the stated courses, English is frequently used as the teaching language. Exams in the English language such as TOEFL or IELTS might be necessary for enrolling in a degree program in English.

A chunk of Twitter users states that the language barrier is a key issue, saying, “The language barrier only issues probably, UK & other nations where our communities are large have English as their primary language (sic).”

Students specify France as an ambitious place for education and write France to be the UK for Indians in the upcoming years.

A user states, “Different countries drawing educated youth from India to serve in their countries. These countries should also invest in school education in India to groom these youths better from their childhood.”

Around 82 public universities in France offer licenses Bachelor (Under-Graduate), Master (Post-Graduate), and Doctorate degrees (Ph.D.). As per reports, 6,000 Indian students are at present attending higher education institutions in France.

The annual tuition for a bachelor’s program is around â‚¹13,500 (€170), around ₹50,000 (€620) for engineering degrees, and around ₹36,000 (€450) for medical degrees. The average annual fee for a Master's degree is around ₹21,000 (€260).
