Australia through TNE Collaboration enhances Presence in India

As India eased central regulations regarding the creation of international branch campuses, numerous Australian universities have either already established or are in the process of creating their branches in the nation.

Monica Kennedy, head of Austrade's South Asia branch said, “We are not just working on building international branch campuses in India, even though that’s really important to us, but also the status that Australia has with the Indian government through innovative TNE models.”

The Australia-India FSI has resulted in significant collaborations in recent years, including the Women’s Entrepreneurship Research Alliance between Deakin and Pune’s Symbiosis University, as well as the development of a new educational initiative focused on finance and treasury between Macquarie Business School and the National Stock Exchange Academy of India.

Monica stated that both nations are engaged in research aimed at producing "real impact," emphasizing the Australia-India Future Skills Initiative implemented by Austrade, which has a funding total of $5.8 million.

In another development, Australian technology firm Q-Ctrl has collaborated with the Tamil Nadu state government to assist in the quantum training of its engineering workforce.

Although Deakin University was the first international university to establish a teaching campus in India, the University of Wollongong soon followed and started its operations there.

In contrast to Deakin and Wollongong, which have positioned themselves in the newly developed central business district of GIFT City, Western Sydney University is set to establish a presence in Noida, potentially adhering to UGC regulations regarding international higher education institutions.

In another location, the Go8 University – University of Melbourne – established a global center in Delhi last year to promote educational initiatives, innovative research, and community engagement activities in India.
