Amazon provides Scholarships for 500 women in tech sector

Amazon is providing merit-based scholarships amounting to 500, distributed over four years, to be worth INR 2 lakhs. At the Amazon Future Engineer program's "Careers of the Future" summit in Delhi, it was announced that the program has trained 3 million government school students and over 20,000 teachers across 272 districts in 8 Indian states. The initiative targets students in grades 6 and above from tier 2 cities with a focus on closing the gender gap in the tech sector.

The program offers inclusive, multi-lingual study materials in seven languages of India including Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, with advanced modules in computer science, enabling a student to come up with complicated applications and expand their knowledge with project-based understanding of AI, coding, and the transformative ability of technology.

Alongside finance, the programs offer mentorship from Amazon employees, customized coding camps, and laptops to facilitate learners' and professionals' training.

Our Amazon Future Engineer program is offering 500 merit-based scholarships worth INR 2 lakhs each to female computer science students. We have already trained 3 million government school students and 20,000 teachers across 8 states. This investment in diverse, inclusive education is key to unlocking India's potential and driving sustainable growth."

The summit further discussed how CS education prepares students for future careers, best practices for scaling quality education, and the roles of government, industry, and educational institutions in filling the gap between education and the labor market.
