Allahabad University to Start 10 New Multidisciplinary Courses to Nurture Students Skills and Character
At Allahabad University, popularly known as the Oxford of the East, ten new transdisciplinary courses will begin this semester. The university administration has created new courses under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagship programme, the New Education Policy (NEP).
However, admission to only seven courses will begin this session. Admission to other courses will be available beginning with the next academic session. Five years of BCA and MCA, MSc Cognitive Science, BSc and MSc Family and Community Science, 5-Year Integrated Courses in Disaster Management and Environmental Studies, BA LLB Honours, 5-Year Integrated Law Course, and 5-Year MBA Course are among the courses available.
In addition, competency courses in Music, Sports, NCC, Constitutional Elements, Mental Health, Financial Market, Discovery Science and Technology, Film and Theatre, Therapeutic Nutrition, and Yoga are being launched. Along with this, new courses in European languages, French, Russian, and German competence courses, and oriental languages Urdu, Sanskrit, and English, are being launched.
Professor Sangita Srivastava, vice-chancellor of Allahabad University (AU), emphasises that courses established in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) will not only offer students with knowledge, but will also grow their abilities and foster the development of their character.
Further, several steps have been taken to improve the quality of education at the university. According to the vice-chancellor of Allahabad University (AU), in the last two years, new teachers have been recruited in the university in 27 departments in mission mode. Apart from this, 350 non-teaching staff have also been deployed.
Professor Srivastava asserts that the amalgamation of professors from various states and overseas has fostered a cosmopolitan environment, thereby enhancing the future prospects of university education and its quality.
She has claimed that at least 100 more teachers will be appointed by the end of the year. After that, the university will definitely take a place in the ranking of NIRF and NAAC.
