96% of Indian Students See Professional Certificates as Key to Job Success

Ninety-six percent of Indian students believe that obtaining a Professional Certificate will differentiate them to employers and help them find a job after graduating. To improve their job opportunities, students refine their abilities, which may include soft skills or technical (subject-specific) skills. As the job market changes more rapidly, students aiming for employment must stay informed and connected to the newest trends in their field.

In these circumstances, a professional certification can enhance students' opportunities to succeed in their chosen careers. A professional certificate is a micro-credential recognized by the industry aimed at providing learners with the skills and knowledge required for particular jobs or fields.

As per the Micro-Credentials Impact Report 2024- India Edition, 95% of leaders in higher education believe that micro-credentials equip students for the job market. The Coursera report relies on a survey conducted among over 180 leaders in higher education across India.

“Across India, higher education leaders recognize the critical role of micro-credentials in equipping graduates with the skills and knowledge for workforce success. Nearly all (98%) leaders offering micro-credentials agree that these credentials strengthen students’ long-term career outcomes,” says Raghav Gupta, Managing Director, India and Asia-Pacific at Coursera.

Apart from the view of higher education leaders, 96% of the students in India agree that earning a Professional Certificate will help them stand out to employers and secure a job upon graduation, mentioned the report.
