16 Lakh Candidates Seen Taking SSC Exam in Maharashtra

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, with its headquarters in Pune, announced that a total of 16,09,445 candidates are appearing for the SSC examination in the state. Deepak Kesarkar, the School Education Minister, extended his best wishes to students appearing for the SSC examination, saying, "The administration is careful about conducting hassle-free examination. Students should not take any pressure and calmly appear for the exam without mental stress or fear."

Approximately 16 lakh students from the state will take the Secondary School Certificate (Class 10) examination starting on Friday. This includes 3,64,314 candidates from Mumbai division alone, which covers six districts.

As per the information shared by Subhash Borse, divisional secretary of Mumbai division of Maharashtra State Board, among the total 3.6 lakh students in Mumbai division, 1,90,054 are boys and 1,74,246 are girls. There are 2,638 candidates who are persons with disabilities. There are a total of 1,060 centres for SSC examination in Mumbai division.

With 1,21,524 candidates registered, Thane has the highest number among the six districts that make up the Mumbai division. Mumbai Western with 60,863 candidates and Palghar district with 65,385 candidates trail behind. Mumbai North has 43,434 candidates total. Mumbai South and Raigad districts both have fewer than 40,000 candidates.

In an annual practice, the Maharashtra State Board released a list of counsellors' mobile numbers in February to assist students in coping with the psychological and/or academic stress that comes with exams. These counsellors are basically teachers with counselling training. In the past, these counsellors have been observed providing assistance to parents in addition to students.
