University of Pittsburgh seeks to grow research and business ties in the nation

Representatives from the University of Pittsburgh, one of the oldest state-related research universities in the United States, will be visiting India from May 7 to 13, 2019.

Chancellor Patrick Gallagher will lead a University delegation throughout India to meet leaders of private industry, government, cultural organizations, and academic institutions. The objective of the visit is to further strengthen existing relationships and establish new links in the country for joint educational and research projects.

The University of Pittsburgh will be collaborating with IIT-Hyderabad, Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE), MediCiti Institute of Medical Science (MIMS) and Indian School of Business, among others. The University and its partners translate research into economic and social impact through international advances in sustainable energy, infrastructure, the health sciences, corporate and business practices, and numerous other fields.

“We are grateful to be here—and to focus on strengthening the intersections between India and the University of Pittsburgh while advancing key collaborations in the areas of innovation and research,” says Chancellor Patrick Gallagher. “This trip is also a wonderful chance to recognize the many teachers, researchers, and students from India who are part of the University of Pittsburgh community and who have contributed to our success.”

University of Pittsburgh alumni are working across India in engineering, energy, environmental sciences, government, law, finance, health care, and other fields. To strengthen the University’s roots in India, the five-city visit of Chancellor Gallagher and other University representatives includes Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Mussoorie, and Rishikesh.
