Preparation Tips for JEE Main

Coming April is the month when JEE Main is going to be conducted for the second time for 2020-21 academic session. Students who appeared in the JEE Main in January are also eligible to sit for this examination round. JEE Main which is going to take place on April 5, 7, 8, 9 and 11 in two shifts is easier compared to JEE Advanced.

Students who are looking to get into IITs, NITs, IIITs and CFTIs for pursuing B.Tech or B.Arch courses must be having the adrenaline rush. Well it is normal. With the 12th grade examination started for some students and is nearly to start for others, it is the ideal time to take a few free hours and calculate how much preparation is left for JEE Main and what can be done. Don’t burden yourself with hefty tasks, just write down the points you need to work on.

Some of the points which you can consider to as tips –

  • Make sure you have all the mock test papers with you. Whenever you find free time, go through those papers and figure out what mistakes you did. Try to find relevant solutions from books or teachers. No teacher will deny providing you with suggestions. So, do not hesitate.
  • From those mock test papers solve problems, even the ones you did successfully. Stick to your learned technique of solving (provided if it’s correct).
  • Listen to what previous years’ successful candidates are telling. Think from their viewpoint on last minute preparations. You don’t need to adhere to their suggestions word by word, but remember they are the ones crossed the barriers.
  • Do not follow the myth that ‘This question came last year, it will not come this year’ or ‘This question did not come for many years, it will definitely come’. JEE Main is a competitive examination and for clearing it in the first attempt, you should be thorough on solving critical and simple problems. Don’t leave it on blind faith.
  • Make sure you have all the books, notes and PDFs with you, so that whenever you get time, in between preparing for the board examination you solve some MCQs.
  • Do not be biased to any subject. Give importance to all three – Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry equally. By doing so you are making sure that by chance one of the papers is comparatively harder, you have adequate knowledge for clearing the examination with ease by scoring heavily on the rest of the subjects.
  • If you get time, sit for mock examinations. Students who opted for offline mode try to go to an examination center for the purpose. You will stay familiarized on giving the examination in a similar environment that of the actual examination hall.
  • After boards, study in groups. If you get stuck to any problem, quick solutions will be provided by your friends. That way you can save time and keep your mind calm.

Last, stay fit and active for the examination day and give your best.
