LPU & IIT-Kharagpur organized Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive (EAD) at LPU
Jalandhar: In order to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship among students, Lovely Professional University & IIT-Kharagpur organized Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive (EAD) at LPU campus today. Worthy guest-speakers of the day, US Wharton School alumnus Mr Ajay Chaturvedi, Chairman at Yi -Part of CII Mr Jaiprakash Hasrajani, and Cyber Security Expert Mr Ravdeep Sodhi guided LPU students under a series of guest lectures. Officials from world's most forward-looking company-IBM also mentored LPU students through workshop on how to convert their ideas into softwares using IBM platform. The event was declared open for more than 2500 students of the university in a traditional way with lighting of the lamp. In his inspiring message, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal invoked students in a key-liner to “be job-providers instead of being job-seekers”.
Key-note speaker Mr Jaiprakash Singh Hasrajani asked students to have a fire in their belly to take risks and to enterprise. He guided students on how to make successful social enterprise. He also informed students the important ways to bridge the existing gap between today's education and tomorrow's professional world.
Presently Founder & Chairman of HarVa XPO, Mr Ajay Chaturvedi told students that real growth of the country & the world lies in rural areas. He is a great supporter of the socio-capitalistic business models for inclusive growth. Believing in the power of cost effective innovation on all aspects, he also told students to get into the real fabric of the country i.e. rural areas to work for novel creation. He also alerted students not to just overlay thoughts and patterns from the developed nations but to innovate. He also shared his experiences of running ‘HarVa’-a unique rural enterprise. HarVa is the first all-women rural BPO ever conceived and executed in the world. Over 3 years, it has been managed to scale to 14 states across India with direct access to over 30 million talented rural individuals.
Similarly, Founder and CEO at e-Core Techno Solutions Mr Ravdeep Sodhi shared his expertise in cyber security & computer forensics of both technical & management areas. He informed students about applied networking, data centre servers, cyber security, and cyber-crime investigations and guided them to plan entrepreneurial projects in this area.
Illustrative, Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Kharagpur is promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship among students throughout India. Established in 2006 it has been working with the motto "Let's Build an Enterprising India!" The basic aim is to inspire students to start their own enterprise. LPU is already working for entrepreneurship development to increase the chance of success of start-ups. Its EDIC (Entrepreneurship Development Incubation Cell) regularly promotes and also facilitates feasible business ideas. It not only provides common facilities but also facilitates aspiring entrepreneurs with venture capital, documentation, patenting and technical support. LPU students are presently successfully running many projects under LPU faculty supervision.
