Kurukshetra University invites applications for distance program, MBA

The Kurukshetra University was established in 1956 as a unitary residential University and its foundation stone was laid by late Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India. The University is Located in the holy city of Kurukshetra, land of the historical battle of 'Mahabharata' and the great message of Bhagwad Gita; and its campus is situated on the western bank of Brahma Sarover (the holy tank). Starting with only the Department of Sanskrit, it has grown into a multi-faculty University as one of the premier centers for advanced study and research in the region.

Distance education or distance learning is a mode of providing education and instruction, often on an individual basis, to students who are not physically present in a traditional setting such as a classroom. Distance learning provides "access to learning when the source of information and the learners are separated by time and distance, or both."Distance education courses that require a physical on-site presence for any reason (including taking examinations) have been referred to as hybrid or blended courses of study. Massive open online courses (MOOCs), aimed at large-scale interactive participation and open access via the web or other network technologies, are a recent development in distance education.

Eligibility Criteria of Kurukshetra University of distance education:

  • For 2-year MBA Programme: Candidates should hold a bachelor's of Kurukshetra University or any other recognized university.
  • For 3-year MBA (HM) Programme: Candidates should have passed in MBA (HM) part-I provided that a candidate who has reappeared in not more than 50 per cent papers of MBA (HM) part-I examination of Kurukshetra University shall also be eligible for provisional admission to MBA (HM) part-II class subject to passing the remaining paper(s) of Part-I in the permissible number of chances.

Application process: Prospectus can be obtained from the Manager (P&P), K.U Kurukshethra on payment of:

  1. Rs 400 for General Candidates
  2. Rs 100 for SC/SBC/BC/EBPG/blind candidates of Haryana at the university office

Or, by sending a demand draft of:

  1. Rs 450 for General Candidates
  2. Rs 150 SC/SBC/BC/EBPG/blind candidates of Haryana, in favour of Registrar, KUK payable at Kurukshethra/Thanesar, if required by post.
  • Selection Procedure:

Selection will be made on the basis of common entrance test that is conducted by the university.

Those students who have qualified entrance test of MBA/MBA (HM), in case of regular admission, are exempted from the entrance test to be conducted by the Directorate of Distance Education.

Important Dates for Submission:

    Last date of submission of application: Tuesday, September 30, 2014.

    Date of common entrance test: Friday, November 28, 2014.
