The Higher Education Department's FY 24-25 allocation increased by ₹3525.15 cr from ₹44,094.62 cr in FY 23-24. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's Interim Budget allocated ₹47619.77 crore to the Education Ministry's Department of Higher Education for FY 24-25.

While presenting the Interim Budget 2024, the finance minister highlighted that female enrollment in higher education increased by 28%, with STEM courses accounting for 43%, one of the highest rates worldwide.

The Higher Education Department's allocation for FY 24-25 is ₹3525.15 cr, up from ₹44,094.62 cr in FY 23-24. The revised estimates for the department were ₹57244.48 cr.

The Education Ministry has been allocated ₹1,20,627.87 cr, with the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL) receiving ₹73,008.10 cr.
