NEET PG 2021 Delayed By 4 Months: Aspirants Ready to Serve As Covid Warriors

In response to the number of COVID-19 cases in the region, the Centre postponed the NEET-PG exam for four months on Monday and permitted medical interns to be deployed in Covid management duties under the supervision of their faculty.

As part of the Internship rotation, it was also agreed to allow the deployment of Medical Interns in Covid Management duties under the supervision of their faculty. After proper orientation and supervision by Faculty, the services of Final Year MBBS students can be used to provide services such as tele-consultation and monitoring of mild Covid events. This would reduce the burden on current Covid doctors and offer a boost to triage efforts.

The services of Final Year PG Students (broad and super-specialties) as residents can be used before new batches of PG Students arrive. Full-time Covid nursing duties can be performed by B.Sc./GNM Qualified Nurses under the supervision of Senior Doctors and Nurses. Individuals delivering Covid management services will be granted preference in future routine government recruitments after completing a minimum of 100 days of Covid duty.

Medical students/professionals interested in working on Covid-related projects would be adequately vaccinated. All such health practitioners will be protected by the government's insurance scheme for health employees battling Covid 19.

To further encourage individuals to offer their services for Covid management, it was agreed that such individuals would be given preference in future routine government recruitments after completing a minimum of 100 days of Covid duty. Furthermore, all such professionals who sign up for at least 100 days of Covid duty and successfully complete it will be awarded the Prime Minister's Distinguished Covid National Service Samman.
