Himachal Pradesh cabinet to make AIIMS apex body of research, medical education
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will become the leading institution for medical education and research, according to a decision made on Thursday by the Himachal Pradesh state cabinet, which is chaired by the state's chief minister, Jairam Takur. Along with other efforts, the state cabinet also resolved to modernise the state's public schools.
The cabinet has decided to upgrade government high schools and government primary schools in Kullu, Mandi, Kangra districts. As per the announcement made by the chief minister, Government High Schools Kholi, Thakurdwara and Bandal in Kangra district and Government High Schools Chong and Shat in Kullu to Government Senior Secondary Schools and Government Middle schools Tandi, Pashi, Tinder and Mashna in Kullu district, GMS Dhamer in Kangra district and Government Middle School Devidarh in Mandi district to Government High schools, will be upgraded.
In addition, Government Primary Schools Okhali, Tikki and Bharechinal in Mandi district to Government Middle Schools will be upgraded along with filling up to requisite posts. The cabinet has also decided to give no objection certificate (NOC) to Vivekanand Medical Research Trust Palampur for 40 seats of BSc Nursing.
It further approved to open a new ITI at Deha in the Chopal Vidhan Sabha area of Shimla district and to recruit for 26 vacancies under different categories to run the institution. It has also been decided to open a new degree college at Pangna in Mandi district, the chief minister’s Tweet thread read. On October 5, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the fully functional All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Himachal Pradesh's Bilaspur.
