IITs Begin Online Admissions to MBA Programmes Based on CAT Score
Taking a new initiative, various Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have started the admission process for their respective postgraduate management (MBA) courses for the academic session 2021-22. The admissions are currently being held online with the IITs following their own selection standards.
The MBA aspirants will have to apply to different IITs on their respective websites by filling up an online application form and submitting the necessary documents. The last date for submission of IIT MBA 2021 applications is January 31. The score of Common Admission Test (CAT 2021), will be considered by all the IITs while selecting the candidates for the programme. Further selection process for each IIT will be different. While this is similar to IIM admissions, MBAs offered by IITs are independent and will have nothing to do with IIMs.
As per a recent report, Department of Management Studies (DMS) - IIT Delhi, Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management (SJMSoM) - IIT Bombay, Department of Management Studies (DMS) - IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, School of Management & Entrepreneurship (SME) - IIT Jodhpur, Industrial and Management Engineering (IME)- IIT Kanpur, Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSoM)- IIT Madras, Department of Management Sciences (DoMS)- IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee are currently running the MBA courses.
After their selection on the basis of online applications, the candidates will be intimidated about different admission processes on their online admission portal. The final shortlisted MBA candidates will be separately notified on their registered email id.
The CAT 2021 results were declared by Indian Institute of Management (IIM Indore) on January 2 and it is also been declared that the CAT exam result 2020 will be valid till December 31, 2021.
This year, too, most of the top-scoring students in CAT were from an engineering background. Of the nine candidates who scored 100 percentiles in the CAT 2020 exam, all were men and seven were from engineering or technology background, one was from a mathematics background, and another from management background. Five of 100 percentile scoring students were from IITs.
At the rank 2, as many as 19 candidates have scored an overall 99.99 percentile in CAT 2020, of which 18 are male and one female. Out of these candidates, 16 were from the engineering or technology background. A total of 1,90,144 candidates had appeared for CAT 2020.
