AICTE allows Admission to PGDM and MBA Courses based on UG Marks for 2020-21
As the lockdown is being put into actions all the educational institutions are being closed. Right from then, there are been several discussions and debates and various public exams. Though some states conducted few exams amongst the pandemic situation and some final year degree exams are going to be conducted in the coming month.
In view the Covid-19 pandemic, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has granted to all the higher education institutions offering various courses under MBA and PGDM, can undertake students admission without CAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, MAT, GMAT or any other entrance exams.
“Due to pandemic most of the colleges are undertaking online classes and currently, online admissions as well. Also, in most of the states, all the entrance exams are being cancelled as it is unsafe for the students to give any exams and there is no such information as the tests will be held or cancelled, says Rajive Kumar, AICTE Member Secretary.
AICTE being a facilitator more than a regulator has considered that the higher educational institutions can select alternatives through which they can select the students for admission. This way it will benefit both, the colleges and the students. “Considering all the risk factors the MBA and PGDM institutions have to allot the admissions to students based on their UG marks. Even if any student has passed any entrance exam he/she will be given first preference” adds Rajive Kumar.
Respective states may also use their moderation while allotting seats to the students through counselling. This facility is only for the 2020-2021 batch students as per the AICTE guidelines and should not be used in the coming years.
