The ones who have studied the learning processes throughout the ages have stressed the significance of arts in the education process, beginning from Plato.Arts education refers to education in multiple disciplines that comprise visual arts,dance, theatre, music, etc. which are integral to society and is a part of the cultural heritage of every American as well.In this special issue, we have focused on this higher education landscape. The cover story of this issue features College for Creative Studies. As one of the top art and design educational institutions in the world, the College for Creative Studies (CCS) is highly focused on learning by doing, or what they call experiential learning. Because of CCS's 100+ years of industry connections, the college engages with industry partners to ensure the types of "active learning" students participate in align with industry needs and will prepare students for a career. Being located in midtown Detroit allows CCS the perfect opportunity to engage with a thriving community of artists and designers and it is also a world-class institution that educates artists and designers to be leaders in the creative professions. This issue also features Kansas City Art Institute. Starting as a sketch club in 1885 where practitioners, artists, designers, and architects in the local community got together to practice sketching, the present-day Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) has seen first-hand the evolution of art and design in the US. While the college has now grown to become one of the most preferred art and design colleges in the world, KCAI still holds close to its core philosophy of coming together, teaching, and helping develop the next generation of artists and designers. After scrutinizing the Fine Visual and Performing Arts Colleges in the USA, Higher Education Review has selected the top performers who have showcased exceptional academic expertise. With the intent to transform the lives of students, these colleges have exhibited the acumen to adapt to the evolution of the educational field and help students emerge victorious.
