| | 4 October 2018HIGHERReviewEditorialHosting a large number of universities in the top 100 global ranking, the United Kingdom has always been considered as a dream destination for students across the globe. The UK continues attract best brains around the world to its re-search-focussed universities, offering international knowledge-seekers an unbeatable academic experience. However, is the UK still a friendly country for Indian students when it comes to providing education op-portunities? Let us address the elephant in the room - a sharp decline has been observed in the number of Indian students going to the UK for higher studies. The number of students from India in the UK fell from a peak of 24,000 in 2010-11 to fewer than 10,000 in 2016-17. De-cember 2017 statistics for international students from the UK Council for International Student Affairs showed Indian students to the country fell a whopping 44 percent in the last five years. Strict student immigration laws in the UK since 2011 has been one of the reasons for this decline. Apparently, the regulations will continue, as the UK government has decided to keep India out of the revised list of countries eligible for easier student visas. In changes to its immigration policy, the UK Home Office announced a relaxation of the Tier 4 visa category for overseas students from around 25 coun-tries, excluding India. It was shocking announcement for many experts in this field and most of them consider it as myopically short-sighted decision. However, certain things in this world are worth taking risks and efforts. The UK education is definitely one among them. In this issue of Higher Education Review Magazine, we have list-ed `Top 10 Promising Business Schools in the UK 2018.'
