And, even after the new state of Karnataka was formed in 1956, Bangalore still continues to be the capital city till date. Known as the Garden City of India, Pensioner's Paradise, IT capital of India or being recognized as the Silicon Valley of the country, Bangalore has a lot of avatars to itself. But this is not it; anyone who visits Bangalore can, without doubt, say that the fast-emerging city also has an academic air that attracts many students from the country and abroad to its fold. As per the All-India Survey on Higher Education compiled by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development for the 2017-2018 academic year, with more than 850 colleges, Bangalore has more educational institutes than any city has across the country. With India's several leading institutions including the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT); the National Institute of Design (NID), Bangalore; the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), National Law School of India University, NIMHANS, Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Regional Institute of English and more, Bangalore is the nerve center of the country. The thriving student life and the opportunity of placements linked to their knowledge and qualification attract more and more students to Bangalore each year.
