| | 6 August 2017HIGHERReviewEditorialI can read an article written by an amateur writer. But, I cannot even imagine about living in an apartment that has been designed by an amateur architect my building could fold in on itself the next time I close my bedroom and kitchen windows at the same time! Undoubtedly, architecture is a sophisticated field where education is incomplete without a practical approach to it. Today, with the proliferation of architecture colleges in the country, it has become hard for the newly established institutes to find qualified and experienced faculty members. As a result, young graduates of architecture, who have not been worked in the practical world, are teaching many architecture students across the country. This not only makes our students incompetent, but equally not qualified. The inclusion of such people in the teaching profession of architecture has definitely deteriorated the level of teaching. Unfortunately, this practice has already been adopted by many architecture colleges in India, as a mean of `cost-saving.' They should understand that this will `equally cost' the future generation of architects. If the authorities fail to look into this matter, it is obvious that the standards of architecture education will fall to such a state where the coming generation will take ages to pull it back to a certain level. Indeed, a country's potential, strength and safety lie in empowering its youth and developing institutions with a global and secular approach. As a developing nation, if we could achieve that, our youth will be able to fight the battle between their heart and mind. In this issue, we have listed `Top 10 Promising Architecture Colleges in India 2017,' which we think is a necessity for students across the country to identify the programmes that they need to choose if they are looking for a quality architecture education. On the cover, we feature B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent University and Satish Misal Educational Foundation's Brick Group of Institutes, which are providing unprecedented architecture education to the youth of the country.
