Students are trained with live projects in these companies and many of them have been absorbed by the industries after looking at their work and skills. "Students are encouraged not only in academic excellence in the chosen branches, but also in acquiring right kind of skill-sets needed to face the present day challenges," claims Dr. Subbaraya. From the day one, the institute provides Soft skills, communication skills, aptitude and analyzing capabilities, extracurricular and co-curricular activities to enhance student's employability opportunities. "We are preparing our students during their course time with the skills which are beyond the syllabus and we expose them to emerging fields and latest technologies. Apart from that, students are trained as per the industry requirements like team building, personality development, group discussions and corporate culture," explains Dr. Subbaraya. In order to encourage placement activities, we have established Department of Human Resource Development headed by highly experienced Prof. Gurucharan Singh who recognizes the need for imparting proper, streamlined and industry oriented training and as such actively organizes need-based short and long term programs on a regular basis. On an average 80 percent of the eligible students have been placed every year from AIT and some of the brightest ones have secured packages up to R. 6.5 lakh per annum. "As a 35 year old institution, we have a huge alumni base. Many of our old students have become corporate heads, academic heads, leaders in various fields and competent entrepreneurs. They also support our ongoing students by offering placement opportunities and other academic helps," says Dr. Subbaraya, who started his academic career in AIT and continuing the journey at present as principal. He concludes, "In the next few years, we want to make AIT a centre-of-excellence with more emphasis on R & D practices and we would like to strengthen industry-academia relation further to enhance the employability. More than that, we want to make future generation with moral and ethical leaders who can serve the society better." Born and brought up in Chikmgaluru District, Dr. C.K. Subbaraya did Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science from University of Mysore in 1983 and obtained PhD degree from UGC-CAS Centre in Fluid Mechanics, Bangalore University in 1993. During his tenure as Principal, Adichunchanagiri Institute of Technology has developed remarkably as a Centre of excellence in Technical Education. NBA, New Delhi Accreditation for two times, Institution of Engineers (India) Accreditation and ISO 9001-2008 Certification are the hall marks of his administration.
