VJIM: The Right Karmas for an Unforgettable Life
Quite unexpectedly on a usual busy day at Kannur transport bus stand, Kerala, a group of youngsters surprised the crowd when they started dancing to the tunes of some desi numbers as a part of program called 'flash mob', the curtain raiser of management fest 'Karmanta 2013' conducted by Vimal Jyothi Institute of Management (VJIM). The students surprised the crowd from nearby cities with the same energy and invited thousands of people to their campus located at Chemperi, a small town on the bank of the Chemperi River, in the western ghat of Kannur district to support the event.
The fest became the battleground of management students with participation of young brilliant minds all over the country. Events like HR Team competition and Finance Team competition showed that these budding managers are not far behind the actual corporate HR leaders and Finance administrators. "This is the agenda of VJIM: imparting value based quality education, training and research in the areas of business management incorporated with big events such as Karmanta," says, the director of VJIM, Dr. George.
"I could see so much unity, passion and dedication among the students of Vimal Jyothi. I believe it happens at very few campuses in our country and they are one such gem," says one of the students from Manipal University about his experience at the sprawling campus. While receiving such remarkable comments, Dr. George says, "Being a minority Christian institution, we emphasize gospel values and moral uprightness of our individuals. They should bear an attitude for continuous learning and development in an environment of caring and sharing."
The institute has created excellent infrastructure and resources to provide students with quality education that kindles creativity, encourages innovation, enhances originality and instills ethical practices to enable them to compete successfully in the global business arena. The campus houses air conditioned class rooms equipped with multimedia facilities, audio-visual centre, computer centre with the latest configurations, digital library, gymnasium and several others. Separate accommodations to boys and girls pursuing their two-year residential MBA programs in HR management, Finance management and International Business Management. The hostels are managed by the Institute and by Rev. Sisters. They are adequately equipped with internet facilities, common rooms for student interactions and a host of other facilities in support of institute’s philosophy, that education requires discipline.
Established in 2010, the institute imparts training with individual attention and care. "Once a student is inducted, we consider it as our responsibility to mould him/her to get a suitable position in the job market," says Dr. George. With the strong support of management and faculty, students run several clubs and forums inside the campus. Business clubs managed by the students are one of the kinds and add new flavors and themes to capture the pulse of the business sectors. This not only provides an extra edge to understand, learn and share their knowledge on a common platform but also enhances their intellect through their peers and industry experts. The institute is providing a complete package of business life style as well to the students by fusing faculty expertise with charming clubs. "We have eminent industrialists and practitioners in our governing council to guide us to adapt best industry practices. Students are encouraged to conduct organizational surveys and pursue academic research," says Dr. George.

Along with academics and cultural activities, another area that VJIM has given a lot of importance is sports activities. The campus has created sports fields for almost every sports activity to ensure that all students benefit and participate in his/her area of interest. This shows that the campus is engaged in developing healthy managers who are having extra talents with commitments to the society.
The management is all set for the expansion and Dr. George says, "Our immediate plan is to construct a superstructure for expanding the size and scale of the institution."
