Digital Learning has made huge inroads into the way a person teaches or learns in modern times. Going a decade back, who would have imagined that a Tablet or even a Smart Phone will be such a great and efficient tool of teaching and learning. Of course, back then Mobile Phones were a luxury commodity, which were not supposed to do much more than just being a medium of electronic communication between two distant individuals.

In today's age, Digital Learning has made its presence felt right from the early age of a child's education. There are well supported researches which reveal that children up to 5 years of age grasp better when taught with involvement of multimedia content rather than traditional methods of teaching. This further emboldens the fact that increase in the usage of Digital Platforms from early ages of child education will only bring brighter results. But then there are Digital Learning Platforms which are moderated by instructors or the parents of learners and there are Learning Platforms which students can use independently. Next natural question that comes up, are we ready to expose our children to digital medium of learning this early?

"Comparing to the traditional teaching methods, the use of multimedia in teaching makes it easy for learners to grasp concepts"

In my view, there should always be certain level of monitoring that should be on students who are learning through Digital Learning Portals. Keeping that in mind, we at DS Digital have worked on developing platform for learners, Intelliapp, which works on ideal mix of independent learning and instructor led learning. Through Intelliapp, parents as well teachers are always in control of what learner is studying on our platform and they can also lead them to study in a certain manner by pushing assessment and digital content through cloud.

Then there is the aspect of using tools, which will restrict learners' access to other unwanted content and material so readily available of internet. We at DS Digital, also provide Tablet solutions which already take into consideration this aspect and prevents the usage of any such unscrupulous material by locking any such access. Of course, this is next to impossible for a normal parent while allowing his or her child to learn through their Smart Phones. In this case, the presence of parents with learner while the child is studying becomes very important.

One might think why digital intervention in education has been so highlighted in recent times. I think the answer lies in the great benefits that it provides to all the stakeholders. A teacher using Digital Learning Platform can showcase whichever content they want to show to learner using any such platform with great ease and creativity. Comparing to the traditional teaching methods, the use of multimedia in teaching makes it easy for learners to grasp concepts. Learner can also access the content anytime, anywhere and learn at their own pace which makes it less stressful an exercise for them. Many Digital Learning Portals also allow moderators be it teachers or parents or both, interactive tools which allow them to track usage of digital content by the learner and assess how the use is enhancing their understanding of concepts learnt.

Having appreciated the use Digital Learning Platform in K-12 space, we can now discuss how useful these platforms are becoming in higher education segment too. There are various start-ups and new businesses which are developing portals which enable students prepare for various higher level examinations in much more interactive manner than what happens in brick and mortar medium. We are even seeing platforms like Vedantu, which are enabling interaction of teachers and students on their online platform for one to one teaching and learning. One can easily see the positive impact that technology of Digital Learning is having on eco-system by the amount of private venture as well as government funding that start-up and other early stage companies are generating.

In a way, this advancement in technology has also led to all major examinations across the country to be held online using some or other technology. This means that learner who are exposed to Digital Learning Platforms from earliest stages will be at ease adjusting to new age testing and examination methods.

As a final note, I can easily say that Digital Learning Platforms are here to stay given how the ecosystem is adjusting according to the developments happening all around it. We, at DS Digital, are continuously innovating and developing solutions by keeping ourselves abreast with the needs of all the stakeholders. We can positively hope that our coming generation will accept the new age digital learning methods with much glee and gusto given how easy it makes their learning process if used under right guidance and monitoring.
