UrFU has a special Adaptation Center for international students for full support of foreign students in all matters of their daily life starting from arrival and accommodation. UrFU runs various cultural and sports events for foreign students enabling better adaptation to the university community and the new society. At the beginning of each academic year, there is an Orientation Week for new-coming international students (offline or online). UrFU awards scholarships to meritorious foreign students based on their academic performance. Traditionally, first-year students entering engineering, technology and natural sciences education programs with high exam scores get a monthly scholarship of 10 000 rubles. Foreign applicants have the opportunity to receive a Russian Government scholarship to study at UrFU which includes: free tuition for the entire period of study in a chosen specialty; a monthly scholarship (for the entire period of study, regardless of the candidate's academic results); providing a place in a university dormitory. The selection of foreign applicants is carried out by Rossotrudnichestvo through its network of representative offices in different countries, as well as through Russian embassies abroad. Apart from that, there is an annual Open Doors Olympiad: the winners of the competition get early admission to a Master's or PhD program for free at UrFU. Every year UrFU awards 20 grants for foreign postdocs and the University has a flexible tuition fee discount system: a 4% discount for advance payment (for each year of study). Furthermore, applicants who earn 40 and more points at the entrance exam get a tuition fee discount between 10 and 30% for the entire period of study.
