Educational Excellence in the Making
With a vision to emerge as an institute of excellence in higher education and to imbibe values for sustainable social transformation IIPM was formed in 1983. Indian Institute of Production Management (IIPM), previously known as Indian Institute for Foremen Training center (IIFT) was established in support with L&T and ICICI. During its initiation days, it dealt in the field of technical training only.
The institute offers various Advance and Post Graduate diploma in Engineering management, Business Management, Banking and Insurance and many more approved by AICTE and affiliated to Biju Patnaik Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar. The institute offers programs for International students as well. In 1998, the institute broadened its area of function into Consultancy and Training which indulges in Infra-red Thermography, Vibration Monitoring and Analysis, Integration of CBM Techniques and many more. Along with these, the institute boasts of being the pioneer in introducing Wear Debris Analysis. WDA is a technique that provides microscopic examination and analysis of wear particles separated from all type of fluids. IIPM provides this particular service to ONGC, IOCL, ISAAR Group and other refineries.
The institute with a motive to indulge its student more into their subject matter conducts various training programs. This includes Management, Communication Skills training in collaboration with institutes such as XLRI, IIM to infuse quality delivery systems to the students in order to instill professionalism. The institute is about to launch a skill development program, a Rs. 10.5 Crore program sponsored by Nephron Skill Development Corporation. This program would cater to 200 students with professional skill which are required in the industry. IIPM witnesses various events and seminars throughout the year to confer an all round development of both the faculty and the students. The students are encouraged to participate in such national and international seminars and conferences. Summer Internship Project and Project presentation which specially carries credit to the students for showing interest and zeal towards their subject and the way of their presentation.
The institute has industry collaborations with Orissa Cement Industry, L&T, Vidhanta and others. About 60 percent of IIPM\\\'s students are placed in the banking sector such as Royal Bank of Scotland, YES Bank, ICICI Bank. Many of them work in MNCs and other International companies. IIPM conducts Industry internship program every year where students from different backgrounds such as Marketing, HR and Management are taken to industries where they spend some time to learn the real-time working environment.
With faculty strength of 105, the institute has faculties having a decent duration of industry experience.\\\"The institute holds a well educated and experienced set of faculty members and resources for a student\\\'s development, since the institute is located in a remote district of Odisha, thus facing the issue of being in the limelight,\\\" mentions Prof. (Dr.) Niranjan Nayak, Director, IIPM. The institute also conducts Faculty Development Program, FDP and International Conferences; invites faculties from various institutes for all round exposure and updating the members according to the latest industry needs. IIPM issues publications on such discussions as well as encourages research work. Most of the faculty members hold Doctoral degrees.
With many national awards and laurels in its bag as an institute of educational excellence, IIPM looks forward to build a global reputation within 2016-2017 and become the best management institute in East India.

Prof. (Dr.) Niranjan Nayak is the Director of Indian Institute of Production Management, Bhubaneswar. After a service of 30 years of experience in different aspects of management, academic administration, as an institution builder and change agent in teaching, training and consultancy; he joined the institute for good. Nayak\\\'s work as a Director has been highly appreciated and this has brought him many awards such as Eminent Educationists by Indo-Global Education Summit, 2013; Rajiv Gandhi Educational Excellence Award and Rashtriya Vidya Gourav Gold Medal Award by Indian Solidarity Council, New Delhi.
