"Made in Germany" is regarded as a seal of quality, globally. German engineering is highly valued across the globe. Career opportunities are excellent in Germany as there are a few unemployed engineers in the country. Engineering degree holders have excellent employment prospects because there has been a steady increase in demand for engineers in Germany for years. Despite the fact that the number of students graduating has increased, the unemployment rate is below three percent. The automotive industry is still imperative and is especially sought-after for entry-level positions. The demand for civil engineers and graduates from the domains of power engineering and electrical engineering is being driven by a continuing building boom and redevelopments as part of a move to more environmentally-friendly energy sources. In this issue, we have focused on the Engineering landscape in Germany.
The cover story of this issue features Fachhochschule Wedel. Fachhochschule Wedel is the oldest university for applied sciences in Germany that offers completely English language based programs to its students. It was founded in 1948, and the mission was to help the scattered industry of after-war Germany to get highly qualified employees with a strong practical focus and an excellent theoretical background. The institution constantly adapted to the needs of the industry around it. It started with physical engineering and steadily converted to computer engineering and various IT specializations which is its stronghold up to now.
This issue also features Brand University of Applied Sciences. A renowned educational institution, based out of Hamburg, Germany, Brand University of Applied Sciences originated as a spin-off of one of Hamburg's prominent advertising and design schools. In 2009, the concept emerged to develop a contemporary approach to design and future narratives within the realm of leading brands. Today, Brand University stands out as one of the globally recognized universities with a distinct focus on brands as it provides practical and industry-relevant education to its students.
