With the exam season less than one month away, here are some quick tips and tricks to help you retain what you study and score better marks. It's important to plan your study sessions and get focused to make the most of the previous time just before the exams.
First and foremost, it is necessary to stretch your body early morning to feel refreshed and rejuvenated.
5:30 AM to 7:30 AM (session 1) - The brain is most active and functional in the early hours of the morning. There's an old saying, 'Early to bed and early to rise makes one healthy, wealthy and wise'. Hence, it is advised to study a difficult subject immediately after waking up. As humans, we cannot concentrate and pay attention to a subject for more than 2 hours at a stretch and it is always recommended to take a small break of 5minutes to keep the mind fresh and improve concentration.

Your brain needs time to relax to work harder so take a break of one and a half hours for rejuvenation.
9 AM to 10 AM -Revision is an important step of learning so use this hour towards a revision of content learned in session 1 if you want your brain to remember what you have learned.
10 AM to 1 PM -It is advisable to prepare your mind and get in the examination mood. A majority of exams conducted are for three hours; hence the next three hours should be the time to solve mock or previous year papers. This time can be changed according to the timeline of the exam that you are appearing for. Keeping a timer beside will help you experience the feeling of an actual examination.
Take a quick half an hour lunch break followed by a 20-minute power nap. This is important as it's very common to feel drowsy after a meal. Time management becomes a major factor as we tend to sleep a bit longer, which is not advisable.
1:50 PM to 2:30 PM -This is when mock test papers come to use so utilize this time to work on them. Practicing mock papers can help you analyze any mistakes and identify topics that need more revision to score better.
2:30 PM to 4:30 PM (session 2) -Once the analyzation is done its time for session 2, which spans for 2 hours. This is the peak time when your mind feels drowsy, hence it's recommended to study a subject that will need lots of brain work, such as Math. This will help your brain to be engaged in solving problems, prevent you from drifting into sleep mode and utilize your time better. However, the subject should differ from the subject studied in session 1.
5:15 PM to 7:30 PM (session 3)-Post 45 minutes of break, it's time for session 3. It is always advisable to include a few small breaks of 5 minutes as and when required and the subjects should be different from those studied in the earlier sessions.
Take a one-hour break for dinner as well as to relax your mind. It is advisable to have a light and nutritious dinner.
8:30 PM to 10 PM -This should be your last study session. It's better to keep the final half an hour to revise the whole day's study material. Revising the content just before sleeping will help memorize important topics and remember them when initiating studies, the next day.
